Please do not use songs that you have no rights to distribute! That means only chart songs that you made or that the artist has given you consent to distribute! |

| Welcome to the Charter system! If this is your first time charting, it is recommended to go through all the steps. Here's a quick rundown of what each step is for: Start: Introduction (what you are reading right now!) Check: Do a little search to see if the song you want to chart has already been done. This is not to say, don't do one if it already exists. But rather, if one already exists, do you really want to spend your time charting it again? Perhaps you can make it better! If that's the case, go ahead and chart it! Midi: There is a special option for you to use if you have the midi file and mp3 file of the song you want to chart. (Please make sure that the midi file corresponds completely with the mp3 file, as in, the mp3 file isn't on a different tempo...) In this step, you can convert the midi file into a data file that can be read in Chart step. Then, all you have to do in the Chart step is choose where each note goes, rather than worrying about timing! Chart: Chart the song in this step. There is more details on the page itself. Test: After you have finished charting, it is always good to test it before submitting! In this step, you can load in your game files to check for mistakes. If you find one, you can always go back to the Chart step and fix it up! Info, Badges, Submit: Write a little bit about your song. Then create some badges for your song! Everyone wants badges, so the more you have to offer, the more people will play your song! (But note that as the charter, you can only create 3 badges per song you chart. Admins can always add more, but just be sure not to make the badges impossible to get or too easy to get!) Finally, submit your song for the masses to play! Before starting, why not read the agreement you will be binded to if you submit a chart! Terms and Conditions: Note this: you can use Newgrounds songs without the direct consent of the artist because the songs are distributed in Newgrounds under a Creative Commons license. I still highly recommend you to at least attempt to contact the artist before, or even after, charting, just to let them know. Now that you know what is what, why not start charting? |
